Thoughts & Review on- Letters to my Ex by Nikita Singh

The story starts with Nidhi leaving her fiance Abhay on the day of their engagement. As the author introduces us to Nidhi's world, we are shown a glimpse in Nidhi & Abhay's broken universe. She starts writing these unsent letters to Abhay where she explains the state of her heart, mind on why did she leave him.

Its writing therapy, she explains. The story moves forward with letters, chat, coffee meets . Letters are written both by Nidhi & Abhay. Both of them are trying to move on and trying to find alternative soul partners. As a reader, even i could feel the compatilibilty between Nidhi & Abhay. Their high school romance blossoming to years of "togetherness" in college and when they finally face an unresolved issue in their lives is written with a touching flair.

As the author, Nikita Singh deftly describes Nidhi's condition, the emotions she is going through, her heart to heart talks with herself & Abhay through those letters & chats. As a reader, I wish we had more insight to Abhay's life too. He seems to be a ideal boyfriend, which probably every girl desires : )

Towards the end, when Nidhi & Abhay are still on the bridge of trust & Trying to build their relationship once again with love & build their lives together, it gives us a simple hope to heart, that every love story should work out like these.

However as a reader i did feel, that more drama, element could've been added to this novella. The volume of exchange of letters between Vita SackVille West & Virgina Woolf are a prime example of how intriguing, interesting & of course romantic can letter writing be. "Letters to my Ex" also reminded me of the exchange of letters between Amrita Pritam & Imroz in "In times of love & longing".

The subtle chemistry between two of them, makes you long for more. The writing is simple & the author keeps the language not too flowery, the situations real. It doesn't feel made up or artificial. It reminded me of bygone college days, where i use to write letters & receive them. I do sincerely hope that Nikita Singh comes out with a sequel to this novella.
