The Puffin Book of Folktales in collaboration with Penguin & UNESCO 

 Its almost an end of the day, but just not an ordinary day. Its World Book Day & for all the book lovers out there in the vast world, this day is just an excuse to read more and purchase just that one book (I promise its the last book) 

 So when today morning, i received mail from @vivekisms (From Flipkart)  About a book of folktales, I knew i had to read this book & Write about it. 

 No matter how old or how young we are, our quest for reading always begins with folktales. Some are told by our grandparents, a few we read, a few embellished tales we see on television. The quest, thankfully is not quenched and a reader is forever in search of  folk lore. 

 From time immemorial, books are a gateway to our culture, to a country, our thoughts and beliefs. Folk tales are originated from our lands, they are the very much center of every culture in this world & from each folk tale germinates a seed of never ending stories. 

 On this Book Day- 23rd April'18, The Puffin Book of FolkTales in Collabaration with Penguin & UNESCO along with Flipkart, brings a beautiful book of ten folktales by master story tellers. 


This book has beautiful ten folktales by our story tellers- Ruskin Bond, Sudha Murty, Devdutt Pattanaik, Kamala Das, Paro Anand and many others weaving their own special magic in their stories. 

 Folktales are a true gateway to our heritage in all its glory. They show us all the aspects of life in the most engaging manner. 

 After all, on a hot, balmy, summer afternoon what could bring respite other than reading a book of folk tales, which takes us back to our fantasy lands. 
Let us explore an exciting and beautiful underwater world with Panna. Watch the little blue bird Podna fight a mighty king for his little brown Podni. Join Lord Ganesha on his quest for a pot of kheer. Read about lovelorn Lord Surya pining for his Harshringar, leaving the world in darkness. Help the dove get her egg back.
 
I am really excited for this book & the book cover makes it look all the more interesting to read.

 The burden of being lovers Rita stood near the gas stove, waiting for the dal to cook, Her husband languorously sat on the sofa ,waiting for the sms, Their daughter avni waited for the first move from the boy she liked.  The burden of being lovers, It haunts us at the loneliest times , In the crowd,  At the bedside when it's 2 am in the morning In the kitchen when the cooker's whistle blows, it brings Rita out of her memories, In the living room, where her husband wakes up from a mental nap of dreams, Their daughter Avni when she watches a movie while thinking about someone else.
