Thoughts & Review on Eleventh Hour by S.Hussain Zaidi

Thoughts & Review on Eleventh Hour by S.Hussain Zaidi

"Terrorism is a psychological warfare. Terrorists try to manipulate us and change our behavior by creating fear, uncertainty, and division in society." - Patrick Kennedy

Recently suspended SP Vikrant Singh, earned his suspension while hitting a Pakistan High Commissioner at a diplomatic meet, the reason being injustice & irresponsibility of the neighboring country’s stand on 26/11 attacks. SP Vikrant Singh was the master mind behind the arrest of the five terrorists from IS who were involved in 26/11 Mumbai Attack.

The five dangerous terrorists escape from Bhopal jail and SP Vikrant is brought on the case as a consultant by his mentor Shahwaz Ali Mirza and together they start tailing the five terrorists across the states.

During the same time, a cruise liner on Indian Waters is hijacked by Somalian Pirates.
And here is where the real story develops & Connects. The twists and turns, the heart stopping suspense when Mirza & Vikrant find a new clues & unearth dangerous secrets to find the absconding criminals. The ending & especially how the story combines each and every element definitely seems to be larger than life , but still so believable. The cops in this book are literary heroes, just like in real life.

The heinous attack on Mumbai’s soul in 1993 & 2008 plays a strong role in taking the story forward. Zaidi has done his research on this angle of the story and has used it in the story quite aptly.

S.Hussain Zaidi pens down a racy thriller which has all the making of a Bollywood pot boiler. The story moves from Delhi to Bhopal to Mumbai. SP Vikrant Singh & his mentor Mirza make a solid team of cops who withstand & fight all the evils of terrorism. The plot is believable with so many twists and turns.

S.Hussain Zaidi on his part introduces motley crew of characters with diversified traits in everyone’s personalities. There are the staunch religious terrorists, the upright cops & the double faced politicians. The story moves forward  & the ending doesn’t leave you disappointed. Needless to say the chemistry between Mirza& his Protégé Vikrant Singh is commendable & they bring the characters alive in the book.

The book moves with a lightening speed, chases around alleys, cities ,camaradie between cops & subtle romance. There is at times dry humor too.

S.Hussain Zaidi, weaves an intricate whodunit, an edge of sit thriller based after the attacks on Mumbai in 2008, more popularly known as 26/11 attacks.

His style of writing is lucid and does not sound too much clinical & cold while describing the terrorists or the cops. What could have been just a documentary style of story writing, becomes a thriller . This is the first book I read by S.Hussain Zaidi and now I am definitely planning to read all of them, especially when all his books are picked up for movies to be made.

While Black Friday written by S.Hussain Zaidi remains a cult classic both in book & movie form. "Eleventh Hour" if ever it converts to celluloid screen will be an instant hit.

This is a easy, captivating, thrilling weekend read. While we do have Frederick Forsyth , Tom Clancy but S.Hussain Zaidi , gives the thriller recipe with all the correct masalas to satiate our hunger for terrorist thrillers.
